Volunteer With Children In Johannesburg

Overview

Your time will be dedicated to helping children expand their world view and learn new skills.
You will be helping a community which has limited resource to build capacity by providing an extra pair of hands for teachers/care givers and making a difference whilst being a positive influence on people’s lives. The project is in Orlando, one of oldest suburbs in Soweto, this township with its rich history and a population of over 4 million is the biggest black urban settlement in South Africa, with a rich history. Soweto was the centre of political campaigns aimed at the overthrow of the apartheid state. The June 16th, 1976 student uprising, which began the slow meltdown of apartheid, started in Soweto and spread to the rest of the country. Sowetans have a strong sense of community. They would say that Soweto has soul, and who wouldn’t want to live in a place with soul. You will be introduced to a melting pot of South African cultures and have an opportunity to experience it.

Use your initiative and skills working at a primary school with children (Age 6) helping to build capacity where it is needed, while providing the care and attention these young people of South Africa need to help them create a better life for themselves.

Get involved with a variety of community projects, meet local personalities & be part of our community. Soweto has a vibrant night life and a Jazz evening is not to be missed.
